Organisers limit number of participants for Run

THE sixth edition of the New Balance Pacesetters 15km Run is limited to only 2,000 participants.

The 15km run, organised by the Pacesetters Athletic Club Malaysia (PACM), will be held at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur on May 18.

Newly elected PACM president Rustam Affandi Zaihan said the run, first held in 2001, had attracted only 600 participants.

“But last year, we had almost 1,500 participants.

“The run has become popular as it is organised in a professional manner.

“We also provide breakfast and all participants will receive a finisher's medal,'' said Rustam at the launch of the event in Kuala Lumpur recently.

It has six categories- men’s Open (aged 16 and above), men’s veteran (aged 40 to 50), men’s senior veteran (aged 50 and above), women’s Open (aged 16 and above), women’s veteran (aged 35 to 45) and women’s senior veteran (aged 45 and above).

The champions in each category will receive RM1,000 New Balance vouchers while the second and third placed winners will receive RM800 and RM600 in vouchers respectively.

The entry fee for PACM members is RM30 while it is RM40 for non-members. The sponsors are The Coronade Hotel Kuala Lumpur, New Balance, Milo, Fitness Concept and PowerBar.
