Organising chairman V. Anand said they were encouraged by the response for last year’s event.
“It was an eye-opener as the participants had a good time. The event was timed in such a way that participants were able to join the New Year countdown at Dataran Merdeka at 10.30pm.
“The support from sponsors was also encouraging. Crocs Prepair are joining us as the title sponsors. Their commitment has motivated us to continue with the event,’’ said Anand after a sponsorship presentation ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.
Besides Crocs Prepair, the other sponsors are 100 Plus, Milo, Nivea, Nature Valley, Salonpas and Mojo Restaurant and Bar.
Participants of the run, sanctioned by the Federal Territory Amateur Athletics Assciation (FTAAA), will start at the Asian Heritage Row and head towards Maju Junction before running along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and finishing at Dataran Merdeka.
The event has 12 categories.
There will be no cash prize but all participants will receive medals as well as prizes.
Anand said they had pledged RM5,000 to Rumah Sejahtera Wargamas Kuala Kubu Baru.
“We contributed a small amount to the home last year. This year we have increased the amount to RM5,000,’’ said Anand.
