KL roads to be closed for marathon

Several major roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed for the AmBank KL International Marathon 2008 on March 30. The marathon is in conjunction with the Federal Territory Day celebrations.
The roads to be closed are Jalan Raja, Lebuh Pasar Besar, Jalan Lekiu, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Raja, Jalan Hishamuddin, Jalan Istana, Jalan Travers, Jalan Kampung Atap, Jalan Sulaiman, Jalan Syed Putra as well as parts of the East West Link Express and the KL-Seremban Highway.
Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Jalan Istana Baru, Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Cheras, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Raja Muda, Jalan Mahameru, Jalan Duta, Jalan Sultan Salehudin and the Dato Onn roundabout will also be closed.
"All the roads will be reopened at 11am. However, Jalan Syed Putra, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Raja Laut will be closed for the entire day," said KL traffic police chief Asst Comm Abdul Wahab Abdul Rahman.
"The roads will be closed 15 minutes prior to each category's flagging off to make sure there will be no vehicles blocking the route.
"However, anyone facing an emergency situation will be allowed to pass. I urge the public to use public transport to move around the city for the day," said ACP Abdul Wahab.
He added that on March 29, Jalan Raja will be closed from 10am until 4pm the next day to prepare for the run.
