Mini-carnival at Dataran Merdeka on July 12
A Mini-carnival will be held in conjunction with the Olympic Day Run at Dataran Merdeka on July 12. The run is organised by the Olympic Council Of Malaysia (OCM) in conjunction with the Olympic Day celebrations.
The Olympic Day Run is one of the annual events organised by all National Olympic Committees of the world since 1987.
The run commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee by Baron Pierre De Coubertine on June 23, 1894 at the University of Sorbone in Paris, France.
This year the run take a step forward by becoming a global event known as Olympic Day, which will allow National Olympic Committees (NOC) to bring under one umbrella all their activities promoting and celebrating the Olympic movement and its values (sports, cultural and educational activities).
The run has six categories — men’s open, women’s open, men’s veteran, women’s veteran, men’s junior and women’s junior — and participants will have complete 7km. Another four categories will be available for primary schoolchildren, covering 3km.
Cash prizes are offered to the top five finishers in each category
The sponsors are McDonalds, Bata, Milo and Coca-Cola.

The registration fee is RM10 for adults and RM5 for schoolchildren endorsed by their respective schools.
