PAR 3
Date : 23rd Sept 2007
Time : 7:30am
Venue : Lake Garden
Distance : 4 x 2.3KM relay
Judgment day, it is coming and it is now.
By the time we reached Lake Garden at 6.30am, Raymond already there. All of us are very quiet. From the face, everyone is so serious about today race and so kan chung. It will be either do or die.
After last week trial, we put our target at 4th to 6th position, in consideration of we are still lack of experience or this is the first time we participate in team relay. Myself and SC particularly, it is also the first time to exchange baton. TH and Raymond only experienced it during primary school. Everything also can happen during the race day and it might be very costly if not handle well.
We did our warming session after dispose some burden at toilet, we did it a bit fast compare to training session, it is only 12mins plus. TH also give some useful strategic during the jog.
The teams 1st runners starting at after short briefing from Kelvin Ng, TH just stand beside Klang Runners and Kura-Kura Sakura Team. He shall be our team anchor and we really look forward for his good performance. Of course the pressure on him is tremendous high and it will affect the overall result if he did not handle well. After the flagged off, TH start at the 5th or 6th position, when reaching the first slope, he almost at the position no.8th, 3 of us are more kan chung by looking at this. In order to release the pressure and not to let the body too tense after the warming session, I decide to have jog around the playground with Raymond for the first 5 mins. The first runner from Kura2 team runners as expected will be very fast and he reaches at about 7.40mins. While Klang Runner reach at 8.04mins. By the time, he reach, we already can see TH far from behind, at his front is team Permaisuri runner. A big relief at the moment and really motivate our team very well when looking he is at the 4th position. He did a good result by finished at 8.35am, shed down 14sec from previous time trial.
When his exchange baton with Raymond, our fren quite sprinting at the beginning, that make us a bit worry when come to last 2 hills which required a lot of energy. Therefore, I get help from my junior to give him support at the hilly session. Some more our fren complaint for stomach ache. MS did a very good job by give him a strongest support and encouragement by running with him for few hundred meter. Which I believe this will be the most important and effective way to boost Raymond to ultimate level other than support from team members. Well done MS, I feel very touch once I get to known from Guan and look at the photo. Raymond also did a very good result by finished at 9:18min. He keep his promise to shed below 9.20min even just recover from accident. Well done, my member. Our team at the 3rd position after Klang River and Fantastic 5 when he finish the run.
SC exchanged the baton and move forward, his target is to do below sub 9mins. After him will be my turn, now really feel the pressure. I have to cool down myself while waiting for his arrival. I know my gang and juniors already go to the uphill or intermediate location to give him support. Yes, he really make it, he is at the 2nd position while reaching the finishing line. Klang River still remained unbeatable and safe at 1st position. Fantastic 5 follow his back. SC finished at 8:52, far ahead from his best time at 9:15min.Super. Well done.
I get the baton from SC and just move forward, my pace a bit messy, could be too pressure and muscle a bit tense. I have no chance to think about this and just continue forward, Klang River is very far from me. What I worry how far F5 at the back, Before I reach the boat house, I have been sayur kau kau by KLAVA “King”, it make me a bit nerves, I do my best to follow him, but he is just too strong and so fast while I still have to consider the 300m uphill with my breathless condition, "sob, sob" cinya sorry to my gang. TH just pace beside and give me a lot of advices with later few of my boys also join me to run. Cinya kan tung, with all the team spirit and support. I told myself I at least got to maintain the 3rd position and I also know that F5 captain not far from behind. While last turning to the finishing line, I push all out to complete the race. I finish at 8.55min with overall team timing for Die Hard 5.0 at 35:40 at the 3rd position. F5 just 4sec behind. We are cinya lucky.
Special message to My Gang,
In order to train for PAR3, we went through a lot of difficult moments, a lot of scarification (no more night activity, no "yum Cha") and facing some resistance situation (some bad news on Merdeka eve and accident). From day to day, our topic only talk about PAR3. U all traveled all the ways from PJ, sometimes have to put aside your work assignment and homework, even sometimes really cannot make it, but will follow up with the team member’s progress and results. We continued our training session even thought we are facing muscle pain, shin splint or not even fully recover from accident. Hahaha, after training, just feed our legs with extra Zheng Gu Shui ( the medicine shop owners also quite surprise why I can bought four bottles in two days) or use ice packs more frequent (even in office). We might have different views and arguments, but we still maintain one heart, strong team spirit, and team morale and have same vision, that is do our best for the PAR3.
Gang, congratulation on today achievement, Abang Tan really feel pride and proud of all of you. Thank you.
Lets we move forward and promised to keep up good works.

Trail-blazer is on again
source from THE STAR
THIS year's Genting Trailblazer, to be held at the Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort on Nov 11, is expected to be more challenging. Held for the third consecutive year, organisers - Genting and the Federal Territory Amateur Athletics Association (FTAAA) are expecting a bigger turnout.
FTAAA president Tan Sri Mohamed Amin Osman said the event had gained a lot of interest among local and foreign participants.
“The Trailblazer is designed to challenge the physical and mental boundaries of participants and it encourages strategic thinking. Participants must overcome the challenge that requires physical and mental strength. The trailblazer is a combination of thrills and spills of adventure running and trail running.
“This year, we decided to make the event tougher and rougher than ever before,'' he said.
“The event has grown by leaps and bounds. I hope all corporate companies will emulate Genting's way in having the activity on a larger scale to bring foreigners and locals,'' said Liow.
The Genting Trailblazer has two categories - Mild and Wild - covering a distance of 6km and 14km respectively. Participants of two must leave the starting line and complete the race at the finish line in the same order as a team.
For both the Mild and Wild categories, there are four divisions -- men's team, women's team, mixed teams and veterans' team (team of two with any gender, whose combined age is 90 and above).
The sponsors are Brooks, Milo, 100Plus, Fitness First and Spritzer. The entry fee for each team is RM178 (early birds) and RM198 (normal) that includes T-Shirts and buffet breakfast.
A package that includes the entry fee, room, buffet breakfast and dinner is at RM378 (for early birds) and RM398 (normal).
Those interested to take up the challenge, can visit the website at www.genting.com.my/trailblazer.

Brooks Bonding Run
Date : 4th November 2007
Time : 7.30am
Venue : FRIM, Kepong

About the Event
This inaugural Brooks Fun Run is the first of a series of non-competitive fun run targeting at families, friends and colleagues who would want to participate in fun run in a relaxing natural environment. We have selected Forest Research Institute Malaysia, at Kepong as the venue because of the beautiful matured trees that would provide a very relaxing atmosphere away from the hectic city life.
We believe a fun run with your family or friends can be a healthy form of recreational activity to do on a Sunday morning, leading to a healthier lifestyle. We hope that through non-competitive events such as this, we can entice more individuals to start running as a sustainable form of exercise program to counter lifestyle diseases. The 5km route is charted within the compound of FRIM, relatively safe and away from the main highways, with shady trees. You could run, jog or walk the route, no hurry as it is non-competitive.

Mizuno Wave Run 2007
Date : 09/09/2007
Time : 7:30am
Venue : Padang Merbok
Distance : 10KM
I reach Padang Merbok quite early, after the three of my juniors cannot make it. Meet Raymond there, then straight away proceed to luggage area to pass the bib no. Saiful is there and we have long chat regarding the development of the juniors. He is also delighted with the junior good result. Fren, dont broken your promise, solve up your S'pore M registration issue and we will meet you there.Meet frens there, choi, Chan, pm's, Lim...As expected, event organised by Pacesetter will have huge participants due to the good quality. My target for this race is below 53mins, to shed 5 mins from last year, afterward my legs still a bit pain. the bonus will be dip below 50mins.
The race start on time and flagged off by Mr Sia Kok Chi, very piss off after find out my adidas watch got problem again...grrrr... Just hope that can get someone to mark my time at the finishing.
Starting with constant pace rather than sprinting, because later need to conquer for double hills and few minor slope. Follow Pms at the back until the 4-5km. when reach the double hills, at first i used the heel to run in order to save the energy then continue with toe.The long strecth is quite killing. CM overtake me that time with steady movement. Come to the down hill, i increase a bit speed and push until the 7KM.Then come to uphill again, pace with another malay guy, he speed is quite similar with me...but he sprinting before last 2km, I a bit tired therefore keep my pace up to last 1km..Sprinting all the way and finished the race in 50:46 at the position of 85th. Personally, i am satisfy with this timing.
Raymond finished the event in 64:18.

IMU Charity Run
Date : 8th Sept 07
Time : 7.30am
Venue : IMU
Distance : 7KM
I can forsee another tough run again after have to long que for the bib no collection and the medals provided is merely 50.
We reached IMU quite early, at 6.30am since there is not much parking space unless you have the find the alternative, that is Bkt Jalil stadium carpark and it is so far away.
The race flagged off on time, we are planning of our strategic whether to sprint at the begining at get a comfortable position or try to run constantly but only speed at the last. We choose the first option because it is short distance and the later will be quite risky.
TH move forward with powerful speed after the first left turn, another show of V-power again. My goodness, i feel my leg very tired and a bit breathless. After counting the runner in front, there are 28 runners + 4 africans. Total of 32 runners ahead of me. TH distance with me become farther and farthest. My mental strenght suddenly drop because starting worry of tomorrow run. I think my pace could be more than 5mins/km already.
Turning to Bkt Jalil carpark and reaching the first ribbon collection, that indian girl could b quite panic, before i managed to collect the ribbon, she move backward and i missed it..Grrr... i got to turn backward and collect again. Unfortunately, CM is too close to me, my chin dont know bend on his shoulder or his face and make myself a bit loss of balance...Sorry, CM. After that, another 2 runners sayur me again.. At the second u-turn, TH is quite far away already, i think abt 200m. While i see the runners run behind me also quite far away.. I am quite confident to get the position of below 40th if i can continue with this pace. After that, i just pace with a malay guy all the way.
TH finished with good result and position, 30:23, No.21st, He is cinya young and dangerous now (pacemaker remark). while myself 32:19, No.34th.
....sigh....how to gain back my power for Mizuno Run???***
